I'd check out the marine forecast everyday for that area on the internet and see if there is a pattern with the winds and the fish showing up. For example it could be a wind blowing at a certain speed in a certain direction for 2 or 3 days. Sometimes you'll see a pattern and sometimes there is no reason.

Here I've heard some are being caught with live eels around the bridge pilings at Oregon Inlet. If the stripers are eating good at the inlet they will get picky and live bait will be the way to go if that's what's happening.
