Here is my 2cents worth,and I do mean 2cents worth.I think the ugly stick was orgininally designed for fresh water large mouth bass to throw a 3/4-1 ounce+ lure like a dart to a small target.they hit hard,you rip hard to set and drag the fish through stuff. I have used a 6' in canada for smalls and pike and the are great! strong,yes(very strong)casts like a broomstick,I would have to agree with that,but they are what they are. The thing about the ugly sticks I have used is that there not sensitive,you can't feel small bites,but I have not used the salt water versions of the uglys. I have two cabela's 10' surf rods that are dumster food. I have a 11' and a 11.50' that I spent about 75$ on(name brands)apeice. Well worth the money.I'm posting this during and after the Tennessee-Ohio state game.I'm sorry, but go VOLS!!!
