Just my opinion , and I'm certainly not trying to start an argument, but there are situations where I prefer mono over braid.

All of my big reels would cost a small fortune to fill with braid. And I would have to say mono is better when you are going after freshwater trout or other fish with good eyesight that spook easily.

I do like braid for bass rods and I like it on the rods I throw jigs and plugs with at the beach. I still use a short 50 lb leader in saltwater , mainly because of blues and spanish.

Definitely each has its advantages and disadvantages.
