You could slide the bait out further on the 15' rod. The 10' would be better for drum. In my opinion you need a southeast wind during the summer for the cobia and kings if you can pick and choose when to go. It is possible to catch a big drum that early north of Oregon Inlet at night with a northeast wind but more likely a shark or ray.
