There have been several reports of stripers being caught on the OBX beaches over the last month. It is hit or miss at best but the fish have been quite large. There are very big schools of stripers offshore also. It is not a globa warming thing. The fish are there in numbers. They are further out than most anglers realize and have not been coming close to shore. Just ask some of the blue water guys. The fish are chasing the large schools of menhaden whcich in turn are being chased by the Omega Protein fleet of fishing boats. I'm sure that a lot of the by-catch is the fish we hold so dear to us. It is a real shame that so many of these beautiful stripers are being accidently killed to keep up the supply of fertilizer and pet food. I didn't intend for this to be a political rant, but it is a huge issue and if we don't stop it, fishing for many species will be affected as well as the water quality for our sounds. Try to send a letter to your state and local government representatives saying you are fed up with this overharvest of a precious resource.
