Good idea for those who have children

Just thought I'd post this because I think it's very cool.

I recently had a birthday and my sister bought me a "fishing journal". It is very well made out of leather and very heavy parchment. The bindings are very heavy string. All in all a very nice piece of craftmanship. I have spent the day filling in several entries about my fishing adventures this year.

My hope is to fill this out for the next several years and keep it for my son for a time when I am no longer around. Kind of a way to pass the torch to the next generation.I can't help but think about some of my grandparents and uncles and how much knowledge was lost when they passed. When I fished with them or whatever I kind of took things for granted and didn't pay attention to the details , so I'm hoping this will be something my son will treasure when I am gone.

Sorry to get sentimental with you guys , but I really enjoyed this gift from my sister and thought I would share. If you have children or nephews and nieces please consider doing something like this , I can't tell you how much it would mean to them.

So far I am putting location , weather , tides , moon phase , type of bait used , types of rigs used , target fish and details of what was caught. Let me know if there's anything else you guys think I should add. Thanks for listening guys!
