I was catching bluefish today on lures with a trout rod north of Avalon Pier. It was one 8"-12" bluefish every now and then all along the beach then a school of them went by and it was one after the other for a little while.

I'd try something natural looking for lures like the small size black back / white Sting Silver or dark back / white Glass Minnow.

The water was kind of a clear with some eel grass in it. There was a lot of baitfish in the surf everywhere, looked like finger mullet.

I didn't bottom fish but a lady was catching either small spot or croaker yesterday 2 at time.
