I've seen some giant cabbage bags marked deer apples that is where all the apples go that are not pretty enough for the good bags.

Could be an Arkansas Black Apple or Red Winesap, the regular has some greenish yellow on it. For storage prefer the Arkansas Black.

The farmers markets are famous for mislabeling Red Delicious with those kinds which I can't tell the difference when fast buying it.
