That was more for somebody that wanted something challenging during late summer. You can usually do that until September then with the fronts coming through and the hurricanes offshore it's too rough most of the time. In the sound pick the calm days and stay close to shore incase the wind picks up, the sound can rough up quick.

I'd go to Hatteras Jack and ask them where to go. One not very rough place you might want to check out is the boat ramp at New Inlet between Rodanthe and Oregon Inlet on Pea Island. Nobody uses it because it's shallow. There's what's left of an old wood bridge that goes over to an abandon town on a island and that might be worth fishing. You'll probably need plenty of bug spray.
