Hey Bob! I'm in Bedford Co. too and I just got back from Virginia Beach , so I thought I'd give you a report. Tons of spot , bluefish , whiting ( roundhead ) a few puppy drums and sharks all caught from the Virginia Beach pier on Saturday. The Outer Banks is my favorite place to saltwater fish , but when I'm short on time or don't feel like the long drive there are a few good places here in VA.

The Chesapeake bridge/tunnel pier is pretty good as is the pier at Sandbridge. The Virginia Beach pier is famous for massive schools of big spot in the late summer/early fall , so you should definately check them out one weekend!
