On the North Coast yesterday. 1" here at the homestead, 3" at sons 5 miles away. Temps lower 30's all day. Temps to inch up all week into high 40's.
Turkey prices still still as low as 77 cents lb. toms and hens + one other at 69 cents a lb. Course fixins prices all raised to recoup losses on the birds. No shortages if yur willing to pay the prices. And...ads have more and more fine print making for lots of customer confusion and prices at register not what they seem in the ads. Buyer beware.
COVID making a resurgence in our OP development. All have been among non vaxed and those not yet receiving boosters.
No local media reports yet of flu cases.Dr. son reports bad but not yet critical nursing shortage. Biden mandate re: mandatory vaxs by health care workers by 1/4/22 probably will make it critical.
Gas prices changin daily w/ most $3.17 and up $3.29.
Unrelated...noticing more and more dogs scratchin and losin hair on paws, noses and eyelids. Seemed to start bout 5 years ago.
Picked up a dozen fallen black walnuts for baking once snow and cold set in for good. Only 2/3 of normal size. Prices in stores about same as last few years...low as $12 lb.
While on the hunt for the walnuts came across 2 possible black bear prints.
Sunday Mass attendence for Catholics now mandatory again Attendance at this Capt's church still only at about 25% of that before COVID. 25% of those, still wear masks. Lately before Mass usher brings around one of pastors dogs on leash. Female English sheepdog. Loves everyone. On the pews, on laps, lickin hands and faces like crazy.
Natural gas up 10% since last month.
