Wednesday report

Fishing conditions are pretty much the same. Lots of mullet close in and a few croaker mixed in and a small pompano. Trying for some shark in the evening, but just had a few of those croakers bit in half.
2 days ago I Had a lady walking on the beach “found out she was a local” start yelling at me because I was fishing on the beach. There was no one north or south of me in the surf for at least 100 yards. Yesterday late afternoon “No one in water for more than 200+ yards either way” and some local guy walked on the beach with nothing but a towel, swam out and grabbed my line and started pulling on it. I reeled it in and threw back out in front of me. He swam over and grabbed it a second time.
Needless to say I was in his face when he came out of the water. 4 beach patrol trucks later they were getting him out of there. Another local guy that obviously has an axe to grind with summer visitors. The lady the day before was there as well watching, pretty sure it was a set up. He was trying to bait anyone in my group to hit him. After insulting my wife and my friends wives, he almost got his wish; but we knew that’s what his plan was.
I’ve been coming to the OBX since 1975 and have Never seen anything like this before.
Talked to some other locals and I guess the lady has been a problem before and the guy is known as well. The ladies beside us who live here brought us jars of Jam, Jelly’s and Blackberry Cobbler to show how they were sorry for how we were treated. There are some good people still left around.
