TW's Report 4/30
Posted By: No fish in the box
Date: Friday, 4-30-21, at 10:10 p.m.
Surf: the beaches and piers from Nags Head to Kitty Hawk have had reports of good catch quantities on Sea Mullet, both Trout and Drum have slowed recently during the day with most of the bite occurring at night under the full-moon. Most trout and drum catches are occurring very early morning or late evening; things will improve in the coming days. Both sharks and stingrays are still in abundance and make for great fun for the beginning fisherman.
Sound: though the moon change has been to a lesser extent in the sound vs. reports from the surf. Most charters are reporting nice catches this past week and several schools around the inlet. The fishing down south in Ocracoke has had several quality fish being pulled out.
Offshore: both blackfin and mahi are being caught very early due to moon changes. Will improve throughout the next week.
Baits of choice are Shrimp + Bloodworm for Sea Mullet, fresh Finger/Cut Mullet or Spot heads for Drum, and ‘Double Trout Grub Rigs for Sea Trout.
