Yes, the pier was almost completely destroyed. It is now much shorter and owned by Hilton Hotels for use by their guests. The old pierhouse has been refurbshed and is now a beautiful venue for wedding receptions and private parties. A Hilton Garden ajoins it. I have many fond memories of catching spot, two at a time, from that old pier.
