I threw a purple jig this evening before dark in KDH. There was some fish about 30 to 50 feet out in the surf but I'm not sure what. I had 3 throw the hook and 1 bite off. What I saw was small and splashed around a lot on the surface probably small bluefish. Only saw one other person that was bottom fishing and didn't see him catching anything. I quit when people started shooting fireworks off the beach. The water was kind of clear and kind of chilly with a little swell coming in. Some eel grass washing up, looked worst than it was on the beach. Watch out for jellyfish, if your stung rinse it off with something acidic like vinegar or alcohol.
