Bradley has given you some very good advice, follow it. In addition, if you do not know how to disassemble and lube your reels, bring a spare, so you do not loose a good time because of salt and sand.

I am going to the banks for the first time this coming 4 July weekend, and hope to do some surf fishing. To prepare I did a little net surfing and found the following website http://www.joemalat.com/ . It provides some very good and practical advice that may help you prepare before you arrive. However, one of the first things you should do on arrival is find a bait shop and ask what is working and where and then buy some bait/tackle that fits the advice. If there is no real advice, look for another shop.
