Bad Omen

I’m just finishing up a long weekend. I knew the weather was going to make fishing tough that was sign #1. I rolled in late Friday night about mid tide and the wind and the full moon had the surf up to the dunes in a few spots making the trip to Carova a real challenge. That was sign #2. Wandered the back roads and made it up to the house. Got up first thing Saturday and found out that I left all my tackle on the porch in PA. That was sign #3. Had to wait for the tide to go down before making a trip down to corolla for bait and tackle. When I got there, they just sold the last of their fresh mullet. Sign #4. I grabbed a bag of bloods hoping I could catch some spot for bait and dime frozen mullet. Got set up to fish and there were two trawlers (shrimp I think) working about 0.5 mi out. (Sign #5)!” All I could think is... every hungry fish has to be behind those things eating the by-catch. Fished all afternoon Saturday and all morning and afternoon Sunday. Caught one spot late Saturday which I let go and a calico crab. Wind blowing hard out of the NW today. I’ve seen the signs and just released the last of my bait.
Still better than a day at work right?
