The beach north of Corolla is flat with shallow water. You might want to check out the narrower areas with higher beach and the areas with tree stumps on the beach. Could be a variety of fish in those areas.

The fall run of big spot sometimes starts at the end of August in Corolla. If so it might not matter, they like shallow water and you can fish anywhere and catch them.
