First off, thank all who post on this board(for those of us that don't get to fish the Outer Banks year round). We just got back from week stay in south Nags Head(May 23rd)and fished in the surf and the Oregon Inlet bridge. While throwing(gold) Bomber heavy duty long-A's(we use for stripers in Pa.and put 4x red salt water hooks on them) off the rocks on the west side of Oregon Inlet bridge,we hooked into something,my son had one break off 15lb. Trilene big game, and while he was going to the car for heavier line I hooked into one,and fought for a while but couldn't stop it with 30lb. Spider-wire braided, broke off.We never saw what we had hooked, but wondered if they were rays,as we saw schools of them under the bridge later. We also got flounder and gar off the bridge and skate, flounder, and sand sharks off the surf on bottom rigs..again thanks for any info..
