It's true, you can walk in the water around the bird closure on the north beach to get to the point. You might have to pay $150 dollars if somebody doesn't like the way you do it. The plover nests are suppose to hatch this coming week and I would guess they will close the point for awhile sometime after the birds hatch.

I think it's less than a half a mile at the bird closure to the point and probably about a mile walk if you go after 10pm.

My limit and I'm used to it is 1 mile and back with one rod, pliers and what I need in my pockets.

I would suggest walking over and fishing at the jetties where the lighthouse used to be.
