Know your pain...like you... gone thru the loss. Ours when kids young a sheltie. Smart...could close doors, wipe his feet after outside. Shunned outside and other dogs...thought he was a person.

Son now has sheltie who is tied to the kids at all times. Neighborhood kids actually come to door and ask if the dog can come out to play. Also demands each evening to sit on wifes lap after dinner.

Big storm off the coast this AM, may bring in waterspouts.
