Family and memories...yup, that's what its all about.
39th year for this crew. 1st year 2 of 17 had to miss due to work.
738 miles door to door North Coast homestead to current place SF in Salvo. 13 hours w/ lunch stop.
Jug Handle bridge may doom stayin on East Point in Rodanthe after next year. Will exit/enter right across the street.
Agree not the best this trip fishin.
Highlights/Lowlights:
Son in law #1 w/ PE
Son in law #2 w/ iris coating scratched off
This Capt on no liftin orders after new pacemaker and wire
2 power outages, both 3+ hours.
After 1st outage on 6/29, traffic backed 2 miles south of Salvo
Construction on 64 and 77 both ways. 55 mph zones
Very few police on roads
Most drivers on interstates OK
Worst drivers = Virginia by far, NY, PA next
Hatterasman restaurant now closed
Quarterdeck restaurant good hush puppies
Sam and Omies still great for lunch
2 great DIY seafood nites. Sno crab, clams (scrubbed) shrimp, baked potatos, salad and garlic bread.
More traffic lights comin on bypass
Lower speed limits on Nat. Seashore parts of HI.
More advertising to go to HI vs. north beaches
East Point house cleanest its ever been
Salvo house for sale. Needs lots of painting
No trips to Manteo, Wanchese or the dreaded Ocracoke
$13 regular burgers at Good Winds
Top Dog very busy but burgers not same taste as in past
Board Wok South not as good as in past either
Mrs. Capt not able to get from houses to beach at all
Exercised Thai language w/ cashier at Food Lion
Austin's ( South) prices up. Sno crab $7 more than Food Lion
Only rains after dinner tho were couple of gully washers
Great daytime weather thruout
Read only 3 books. Da Vinci code took forever
Didn't get stuck on elevator during 6/29 power outage

Several long time stores merchandise no longer worth the stop
Dr. son inverted kayak in sound w/
White corn bad, yellow good
Never set foot in pool, hot tub, played pool or watched TV
Played bingo/bunco w/ grandkids many nites. Loved prizes...incl. Sloth Poop
Enjoyed the h*ll out of time w/ grandkids, 5 already over 16
Had several water balloon battles
Still not completely unpacked
Didn'r see King or Capt Caton
Hatteras Village library and Avon Island Spice and Wine both closed when stopped. Bad timing
Booked 2020 last Dec. so good to go fornext year
