What ratio of components do you use? A general look at some on-line mixes seems to go 8 parts ice, 8 parts water, 1 part salt and 1/2 part baking soda. Also, some sites said Borax may give the bait an unpleasant taste, but the people up north use it a lot for curing roe sacks for salmon fishing.
Almost a case of "too much information", but since fishing is a continual process of learning.........
