The ride in and basically it all day long without mountains just trees with some heavy traffic around Raleigh and Durham, GPS device was a must.

The horror of it was hitting some big patches of thick mountain fog leaving on this highway, everybody was going slow and had their flashers on.

Sheetz gas stations at the exit ramps were the way to go. They had good hot food and coffee, clean bathrooms that smelled like Irish Spring soap.
