Fishing Gear Question

Ok y'all, I've narrowed my search down for a conventional fishing reel now I need to figure out what to put it on. I've looked at a few 11'-12' rods out there, but wanted to see what advise I can get from everyone on this subject. Length, Action, Grips, stiffness, ect.
