My fall puppy drum rig is cut bait on a regular double hook bottom rig with thick 4/0 hooks and heavy 80 or 100 pound mono snells on them.

They straighten the cheap wire hooks. Hatteras Jack showed me that way and will wear you out if you get two 5+ pounders on at the same time.
