How Great are the Outer Banks?

My family and I are moving to Florida and still intend to vacation at the outer banks. I grew up at the Jersey Shore and wish I had known about the Outer Banks back then, way back then. Haven't gotten in my Spring trip yet, but I will! I'll swim in the waves and catch fish with my teeth if i have to.
