The best time to fish the north side of Avalon Pier is during the end of October and beginning of November for big speckled trout. I'd try the Helga Street hole a little further north. It has a street light shining on the beach and water if you want to try after dark. You'll probably catch some skates for sure and maybe some croakers or something else if your lucky.
