Well most of the time those storms don't do anything to this area when they curve out south of Hatteras. What a storm usually the wind builds up to full force on them and this one went from doing nothing to full force in less than 5 minutes and didn't stop also stayed stuck in a heavy rain band that went straight up the beach and wouldn't move on. I had to go out and secure some furniture was like being sprayed in the back with a firehose. I guess that storm was something like Sandy for Kitty Hawk, they pumped the water out but still is a lot of standing water and it was cold and full of debris, what's left is starting to smell like fishy old vase water in this area. Kill Devil Hills has a better drainage system and is good on the east side on the north end but the 3rd Street area across from Food Lion looked like it was flooded bad judging by the stuff put outside. Bay Drive was flooded and was closed off was told it started smelling like sewage there. That was from rainwater and mostly in this area but might have also had a storm surge. The beach road washed out in Kitty Hawk again and they have been working on it. I had some damage wasn't too bad. Most of the older houses along the beach road going south had shingle and siding damage saw a couple around here you could see the rafters. A pink one on the beach was missing most of the paint on the north side. You might have to fix it yourself right now, the roofers looked busy. If you have a downstairs you might have a mess from the flooding. The trash guys have been picking it up if you can make the stuff fit inside the trash can. Also I'm on the main water line and have it, people further back said their water was off. The power was going on and off from transformers exploding and the power surges may have damaged your internet router. The grocery stores are open and had plenty of milk and bread but have been out of odd stuff like kidney beans and flour tortillas you might have to hunt around if your planning on burritos or chili. Dominos Pizza in KDH is delivering if the water isn't too deep. Henry's, I Got Your Crabs, Black Pelican are open and I think Hurricane Mo's not sure about Awful Arthur's lost their sign. So far the mosquitoes aren't bad, fuzzy bills are starting to swarm around the lights at night. I try not to leave the porch light on long. I'm kind of limited getting on the internet and might be like that for awhile.
