I doubt speed limit signs will do any good on a bridge.

The traffic tie in would probably be something like the one in Kitty Hawk for leaving the Duck / Corolla area.

A separate merging lane with no stoplight going south there and a stoplight for the other way and getting on.

I agree it's probably a done deal now, the longer bridge looked like a better design.
