Well the canals on both of the sides of 64 going out of Manteo towards Columbia is free gain and open to bank fishing. The Chowan, Pasquotank, and Roanoke River's have great access at the public landings and banks and I do do a great deal of fishing in that manner. You can also fish from most of the bridges if they have cat walks or if it is a small bridge. I also fish all around pirates cove and Manteo. It has always been good fishing in Manteo around the old light house station. Seems like when the stripers are in they like to bite around 2am so sometimes I hit those places. You are very blessed to live in North Carolina and have opportunity to so many fishing holes. Try fishing were you would like to and be kind to people and most will let you fish there if its private property. Kindness and good sportsmanship is the key along with respecting all types of property rather its private or public. I do have a flat bottom boat that we use up on the Roanoke River for it is very rocky up there. Hope you have a nice time and always remember to hold a tight line. Debbie
