Simple life

Not sure what brought this on but I thought about the simple life when I grew up in the sixties. Lot of things going on at the time,but things made sense to me at the time.Neighbor in his nineties,retired teacher heats his barely standing house that he grew up in with fire wood.He is a Christian man as I try to be.He refuses any help of any kind.The ironic thing about the man is that he would vote for the devil himself if he crawled out of hell and had democrat in the front of his name.Keep in mind he is a self sufficient man.I'm confused.Was I born in the wrong century,or for that matter on the wrong planet.
