I agree with more bites and sometimes fish caught for I do A LOT of pier fishing. However there is one draw back to me and it may be personal but I find that when the piers are crowded, very crowded for the spots/croakers are biting hard that my homemade bottom rigs tend to get tangled up more with other peoples fishing lines. This is when I prefer store bought for the top line of the store bought is less out to move around more in the currents and this prevents tangled lines. This is about the only time I truly like to use store bought bottom rigs. I believe if I was a fish, I would bit something that looks more natural and not stiff and then something that dangles down. I try very much to think like a fish when I am fishing. I also use this out look when I am hunting and I am a very good hunter and have a nice Boone and Crocket White tail to prove it. Think like what you are out to catch or hunt. I even look at baits and ask my self "would I bite this" LOL Everyone remember, keep a tight line. Debbie
