Spring Fishing Suggestion?

Hi folks,
I'm hoping to get some advice on taking some family fishing, my little brother returns from deployment & will have some leave in Spring of '16; my 13 year old nephew lost his leg a couple weeks ago & I thought it would be nice to take these guys fishing in the OBX.
Any advice on when & where to take these boys fishing? The months I have open are March, April, May. This doesn't have to be drum fishing & I'm not confident to take them to "The Point". I'd really like to get them into some blues, trout, or other fun fish.
I hope I didn't make this into a sob story, just looking to bring some smiles to a couple guys who could use them.
