We went home yesterday at dead low tide. Luckily the wind laid down or we wouldn't have gotten out. Pucker factor of 7. We had plenty of beach going in at low tide last weekend thanks to the super moon. Not the case yesterday. Two tropical depressions and the threat of a hurricane. I certainly can pick them. I Will be back for a long weekend in a couple weeks as soon as I can get things at work under control. If the weather lets me that is.
This is for King...
Darwin award to the guy my dad met last Saturday who was trying to leave out the last ramp. Dad told him he couldn't get out that ramp because the storm had eroded it and there was a 3' cliff at the end. He told my dad that he had come up at high tide and now he was stuck there all night with this family and dog because someone had told him he could get out through the false cape park in Va. He asked my dad what he supposed to do and after a long pause my dad said.... Ummm ... Wait for low tide and leave.
On another note... Fished early in the week with fishbites and frozen mullet no fresh bait could be found. Could really only fish the times around low tide because the storms had the tide all the way up to the dune line. In fact... I had a bait rod that had barely any line left by the time I cast and ran my rod back to the sand spike. I managed only a small pompano all week. Had something working the tails off my finger mullet but couldn't catch them even after putting a stinger hook at the end. I used the cast net off and on looking to catch some fresh bait with no luck. A group of guys fishing south of me had some fresh shrimp and they had a steady pick of drum, croakers and small blues and one big drum in the 50 inch range on Tuesday and wed.
