Hey Tony, A hot spot for winter fishing is one of three places and I don't mind sharing them with you.
1)Bonner Bridge, but take warm cloths and a retrieve net and heavy fishing equipment which includes if you would like to do bottom fishing there good weights I like to use 4 oz. there. But like I said be ready for some heavy duty fishing. You also need to fish here at tide changes and look what side the fisherman are on. Also pay close attention to what side you are on as to what fish you can or can not keep.
2)Go over the Bonner Bridge, park in the parking lot and cross the road and fish around were the old ferry was. Be prepared to loose a lot of weights if your bottom fishing there.
3)There is always the little Manteo Bridge. You have to be patient. This time of the year I have caught just about any type of fish there. But it depends on Tides and water clarity. My favorite to catch there is larger spot and croakers. Use fresh shrimp, not frozen and fresh blood worms or blood worm bites.
You can also go on Oregon Inlets web site and contact Capt. Ray for he knows what is happening and where. He does great charters and will take you gladly to some good fishing.
For Now, I will go and enjoy my birthday, and Its a beautiful day out so I am going to go and try to Keep a tight line some where. Happy Fishing, Debbie
