Was a time, back before the guard gate came down on Rt 12 north of Sanderling, that rudeness was virtually non-existent and beach life easy goin. Passers by always waved a cheery hello and every other day the produce truck crept by w/ a "tinglin" bell. Whalehead beach was the end of the road.
Cottages had no phones, TV's, hot tubs, in ground pools or pool tables. You'd have to look hard to see another cottage near yours. Food, gas was puchased at Wee Winks in Duck. Clear nites were pitch black and provided many a show for the family lying on the deck. Satellites, UFO's - who knows - but they were real entertainment. Cloudy nites were board games. And were there fish!!!!!!!! Every day. 50+ in the AM was pretty normal. Twas a simpler time, never to be forgotten, and sadly never to be visited again.
