This will be my 42nd year comming to OBX. I was 14 at the time that I watched some one being lowered into the water in a rubber raft off Red's Peir. This person had two 5gal.buckets full of tuna scraps BLOOD everywhere and two fishing lines attached to a chunk of bait in each bucket.He then paddled out from peir into the dark of night out of sight. Yes this crazy person was after a shark. He went to the left about 200yrds. dropped the first bait and then he went south 200yrds.and did same thing. He did get back to pier where he was pulled up by his other crazy friends. They set up the big rods and reels which was the biggest ones I had ever saw in my life.I stayed on the pier until almost midnight listening to all the fish stories and watching the goings on that I guess normally happens at the end of the pier. I did not want to leave be cause something might happen and I would miss it,but I had to go. Well the next day I got up and walked from Jean and John Ackery cottage and on the end off the peir was a big shark hanging from the scales weighing I think 274lbs. I missed it,but I did get too see the results. I do want to ask does any one know what RED'S PIER is called today. Take a guess!!!!!!!!!!!!
