In Response To: 2nd Call - Re: Doldrums Here Again (Capt D)

Ok, here goes one, but I have so many to share since OBX was my hangout. One night a bunch of us decided to go camping down near Penny's Hill. We put up our tents and went to surf and swim. That night we sat by the camp fire and drank a few. Really we drank a lot. Finally I retreated to my tent and fell fast asleep. Early morning hours I was awaken by the sound of cows making mewing noises. This startled me and I woke up and said to my self "Cow's are not on the beach silly". So I went back to sleep. Then I woke up once more and had to go to the bathroom really bad, so out of the tent I crawl and off I go to the bathroom. This night the fog had set in thick on the edge of the dunes were we had placed out tents. So off I truck to the bathroom. I pulled down my britches and squatted to take a pee. Then I heard this blowing noise and I felt a damp gust of air that came from the area the blowing noise had come which was right behind me. I turned and what did I see and touch, a darn cow. I pulled my britches up and ran for this cow scared me to death. Well the cow started chasing me as I ran back to the tent. The cow ran right over my friends tent and tore it down. I tried to wake up my friends but they were plastered from drinking. Finally one of them said "what do you want now Debbie" I told them their tent was down and a cow had chased me back to the camping area. They looked at me and said "right, sure". Well the next morning came and they woke up good and said "what happened to our tent". I said "I tried to wake you up, a cow chased me and knocked over your tent". They did not believe me. So the next morning a man came by and introduced him self as Earnie something, and he asked us had we seen his cows. Boy was that funny, you had to have been there. This man also told us that he was the mayor of Corova Beach. Well it was true, his cows did get out and for years you could find one of two roaming with the horses along the beach.
