The Feds strike again. NOAA South Atlantic NMFS
just announced the very popular Blueline Tilefish will be closed from September through March and the open season May 1 to August 31st will restrict the recreational catch to 1 per boat per trip. This is effective to the NC/VA border. In Virginia you can keep 7 per angler, per trip with no closure. The South Atlantic NMFS had no recreational data so they issued a "Death Sentance". Commercial catch is at 100 lbs. gutted weight per trip. This is a serious blow to the Outer Banks Deep Water
Wreck Fishermen and Commercial sectors. Along with the Feds abandoning Oregon Inlet, Beach Closures and other fishing regulations such as Snowy Grouper (1 per trip per boat)5 Sea Bass and 5 "Beeliners" the Outer Banks will loose stature in Ocean Bottom Fishing.
The SAMFC are a bunch of douchbags anyway you cut it.My mates dad... Rom Whitaker who runs the "RELEASE" was at a meeting where the SAMFC said that the total landings from Hatteras to Key west was 480,000 pounds....which was total BS......NC alone had over 600,000 pounds documented last year....SAMFC said that ..that had nothing to do with anything and their were going on with "their" data......somehow ...some way...we are gonna get over this horse feces and just say "To Hell With Them"
