true fishing story

years ago I was surf fishing at ramp just before avon.
I noticed some sand fleas, so I got my shovel out and
was digging around. I caught a couple nice flounder.
better half and I sitting and watching poles. all
sudden park ranger flying down beach. I said somebody
must have done something. to my surprise he pulls in behind
me and jumps out truck. he said show me where you are
burying your fish. so I explained I was digging for sand
fleas. he said I want to check your coolers. I had 2 coolers
in back of truck. first one he opened was full of ice and
adult beverages. he looked at me kinda funny. I thought OMG
GOING TO JAIL. he looks in the other one, ice and 2
flounder. he goes to his truck and comes back with tape
measure. he measures and says these are 1/4" short. I
said my regulations book said they are ok. he says show me
your book. I show him and he said sir those measurments
are for the sound not ocean. I felt like a dumbbutt and
said I'm sorry. he said give me your drivers permit
and I be back. I'm sitting there and told better half, I
think I'm going to jail. so we wait(what seemed like
forever) he comes back and said, james, I'm going to
give you a warning ticket, and let you keep your fish.
I thanked him, and he said enjoy the rest of your vacation.
that's what I call a true park ranger
