when to fish?

I'd like to come down [from PA] for a weeks fishing but am not sure whan is the best time. I would be staying in the Avon area. I've hears that there are more fish in the spring but bigger fish in the fall. I'd obviously like to catch a lot of big fish. If I only have a week what would be the best week for say blues, trout, stripers,drum? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
