Braid or Mono?

Had to purchase a new reel before we head down next week and now need to spool it. I've read about the debate over braid vs mono so I was wondering what everyone else prefers? I tend to lean toward a good quality mono just because of cost and limited surf fishing opportunities. Your thoughts?
