You might want to try live bait, there's been a lot of small stripers hanging around the bridge if you just want to catch and release something. The drainage canals along rt. 12 just north of Oregon Inlet is a good spot to throw a cast net for some live bait. Watch the surface before you throw and try to get the first throw right.
