If it helps any in my opinion there's been 2 groups of stripers showing up the last couple of years. The main big group from Virginia has been moving down to Carova at the NC/VA state line around the middle to end of January then moving back north.

An earlier smaller group has been on the shoals and around the bridge at Oregon Inlet and also at the other inlets in December that are probably from the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds. A few show up in the surf in October and November. I usually get them trout fishing, they like Mirrolures.

I think if it's another warm winter the same thing might happen again. When it was really good at Oregon Inlet the sound had froze up around the edges and it hasn't done that since then.
