If you need another option Kill Devil Hills beaches are open to beach driving now for "free". The north side of Avalon Pier is a good area either near the pier or further north around Helga Street and Arch Street. South of Avalon Pier the Triangle wrecks at 2nd Street or the Irma wreck on the north side of Ashville Drive are good spots. Could be a run of something you want or don't want, sometimes a different kind of fish on each cast there.
Air down, don't drive in KDH's wet brown sand like around tide pools. You might also need some speed at the ramps if they are tore up watch out for people coming over.
In Nags Head, KDH, the weather’s fine - and so is beach driving
