Just wait until after the evacuation order panic and you'll have the road to your self. That starts when the message goes across the tv with a beeping buzzer going off telling you to evacuate.

The weather is getting cooler and nothing is out there, we are past peak hurricane season and the bad luck "I" named storms. We could still get something like Sandy or the old Halloween Storm aka The Perfect Storm and the usual one bad northeaster that tends to hit in November. The evacuations are more for the summer crowd, meaning they are probably not going to say anything about it later in the fall.

You might want to avoid Kitty Hawk, others areas are higher with storm drains.
