Re: Banquet. Went well but for caterer who forgot 1/3 of the appetizers and 1/2 the vegeables for the main course. Took an additional hour for missing items to show up. Bottom line ... folks had to wait an hour to begin eating. And oh yes ... there were complaints, incl. that there was no beer or spirits. Fact that invitations said "BYOB" meaningless as complainers said they don't read invitations!! At the $13 per person fee for the season, and the committee having to pay $10 per person for caterer, and additional costs of: soft drinks, desserts, trophy, prize money, ice, candles, sterno, flowers for each table, coffee, creamer, etc. ... you'd think they'd appreciate all that was provided, incl. that food was served at their tables, and dishes all cleared from their tables for them. (No one of course complained about the great food or the $400 cash given away). Now aren't you glad you asked??:):) OP are just not easy to deal w/ and add a few sour apples and it becomes a real "labor of love".
Re: Vets. One lady complimented this Capt for honoring all the vets, retired, and active, and their wives, for their service and sacrifices. Had them lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and told them they were "not forgotten".
And ... now don't forget to return all the dubloons and diamond jewelry you pilfered from CHNS w/ your detector:):)
Some of the Beach Rules (incl. no metal detectors) are posted at HI beach accesses. New ones were installed all along HI beaches last summer. But, as with the OP here, some chose not to read, or not to comply.
