weird fish

Ok ate at sugar creek and watched drum feeding and jumping but came across a fish i never saw when walked out onto the gazabo. The fish was about 18 inch;s long but had a double edged metal looking type reciprocating piece about 6 inch's long off it's snout . wasn't a gar . would sit in the water with that beak up like a mini log and wait for bait fish . any idea's ? Thanks all ! oh and i wasn't drunk , the mrs's has a video of it ...
