OK here's another). (Maybe posted before - if so, sorry...)

Born in Cleveland Oh, inner city. Pretty poor. Few toys and a pieced together bike. Playground was Riverside Cemetery across the street. Were allowed in as gravediggers (hand job:):) were dads customers. Fishin (makin this a legal post), sleddin, hockey (tree branches for sticks and ice chunks for pucks), football, pickin berries, pickin worms (for a worm business that never got off the ground), buckeye wars, were shot at, ate bagged lunches on the railroad trestle (that had no start or end - just traversed a valley), caught bunnies etc. You went in the front gate, past the keepers house, and you were (or at least it seemed you were) in another world. One day stumbled across 2 hand hewn caves. Biggest was about 8ft. tall and 12 ft. deep. Played in the larger one all the time. But when evening started to fall in the cemetery w/ long shadows everywhere we kidded each other bout bein afraid. (Deep down we all were but none of us admitted it.) We were out of there quick before the gates were closed for the nite.

Never forget the big cave or the surprise years later when we heard about the "Orange Eyes" monster who was supposed to have lived in a cave in the cemetery. Its on the 'Net' if you look it up.

The cemetery is still there but property now only about 1/3 size it was after land was sold off for an Interstate and a hospital expansion. Story was that after the interstate went in the monster moved on w/ sightings in other towns.

While we never saw Orange Eyes back then, we did see things like mausoleums pried open by grave robbers w/ open caskets and mummified remains. Made for great dreams for us. That was the early 50's. Though we guys are all still alive, none of us has gone back for a look see. Why push it??
